Denver’s Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble has been exploring cross-cultural dance arts rooted in African-American traditions for more than four decades. Tonight’s program features excerpts from Lush Life, Robinson’s 1984 jazz, poetry, and dance collaboration with Maya Angelou; the premiere of Fusion by celebrated Haitian choreographer Jeanguy Saintus of Ayikodans; Arranged by Milton Myers; and excerpts from Robinson’s gospel-inspired Spiritual Suite.
The presentation of Fusion was made possible by the MetLife Community Connections Fund of the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project. Major support for NDP is also provided by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
